Point Loma
Loma is the Spanish word for "hill" appropriately named because it is a town of rolling hills. Reminiscent of a sleepy little fishing village of old, Point Loma has retained much of the charm it had as being one of San Diego 's earliest communities and is also home to the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and the Cabrillo National Monument.
The portside community of Point Loma is the entrance to the San Diego Bay. The city is centrally located, yet outside the mainstream traffic of greater San Diego. The community of Point Loma is just five minutes from downtown, and two minutes from the international airport at Lindbergh Field.
